Recalling one who say "Do your best and God will do the rest.", what a stubborn and naive little one I was who thought I have fully interpret these words well enough. An extremely ego person I am, and a spiritual executive in the Catholic Society of the school, so what! My religious spirituality was absolutely not in shape... still, thanks to many who have been re-enforcing that "things will come when He thinks you can" and four months of struggling to stay Hong Kong (which I now clearly declare as my base), I finally knew that my strong ego thoughts are no longer necessary.
Many thanks to those who have been supporting me and guiding me through. Too many names to write down. Sometimes you may not even know that you helped but you did! I will start Monday the 12th and I will work hard. May I ask all those who hold my or have similar faith to continue to pray for me and those who does not to continue to wish me good luck.
May my spirituality continue and may God's blessing to all of us continues. God bless you and enjoy life!

The amazing part of languages and the usage of them together
The elements of setting up a new life in a new era requires the appropriteness, innovation, and networking or what the Chinese say "time, place, people". Now, one thing that the Chinese explained this better than what I have defined in the English context is "people".
"People", somewhat close to establishing "guanxi", is somewhat different than what people defined "networking". Indeed, many have already linked "guanxi" and "networking" as identical words. However, the implication embedded in these two words, or would I say the perception and hence the implication derived from these two words are different. One interesting thing is, since man's language are never perfect, the understanding and the implication of these words in the way our culture desired it to be conveyed is strongly embedded.
Take the Japanese as an example. Well known as a culture brought over from the Chinese, the perceived way of "learning"and the way they practice culture is overwhelmingly different than that of the Chinese. Weddings are the greatest example. The usage of black and white colour in the Chinese culture is strictly prohibited because these colour are used in death. However, red was not used as much in the Japanese society as well.
Perhaps at this point of time, we should put down our strong culture and/or personal thoughts and start appreciating, or to make it a start - understanding, others and hence introduce our life with a whole new world of perception.

Surprise 2009!
A joyous new year to all and may the blessings of the Lord be always with you.
Who knows what will happen in the next second? For those who think this positively, probably great things are on their way. The other way round - the pessimist, well, they are worrying. Guess what, I am one of those who usually "doesn't care". What is yet to come unto me, He shall deliver it accordingly. How correct is this? Well, justification is, to my perception, unnecessary but is something crucially (if this word exist) embedded in one's mind.
Story goes... a year start should always be joyous and deviated from unhappy thoughts. I tried. Yet, unknowingly, knowing French may put you into a position where you can evaluate one's intention and underlying thought of someone who might be harming one of your beloved members of the family. Thanks to my French, which is not profound but better than those, I suppose. I truly hope God will assist me on this and I will try to maintain my EQ as much as I can. What a gossip to start 2009 indeed! But also, I guess I am old enough to sound and make a judgment in the family table, as I did.
Resolution for 2009:
(1) Find a job (I don't think it is a resolution but let's just put it here and evaluate when 2010 comes)
(2) Hopefully that the one I am thinking of will understand that my presence means something more than just "that". I am looking forward to a better "Walk hand in hand" with her
(3) A better family bonding - 2004-2008 is a period of saying good byes and hugs. I hope that family-wise I can keep a better bonding with them as well as finding the balance in life.
(4) Friendship building - well, to keep myself an optimistic person requires a bunch of great friends. Names shall not be told here but yes, you guys are truly great!
(5) SPORTS! A must. Swimming, cycling, whatever! I need to do some sports!

A time to rethink
Stepping into December, someone like me will start thinking what have I done well and what I haven't... semmingly I have already forgotten that this shall be done asap but let's see if I can do it on the CX flight to LHR for my graduation.
If you ask me what is the most significant thing I have done in 2008? Dissertation and flying. I knew more about flying on different aircrafts. I have spent 60+ hours and more than 50,000 miles on Cathay Pacific to different places (but mostly HKG-LHR-HKG). Some 3000 miles with British Airways around Europe and then the others are hard to count for they were with budget airlines. Started to like the aviation business? Well, now it turns to something like a transport for me... like it or hate it... that's not a question anymore. My nerves still get a little bit tense when the ground staff are mean to me but oh well! They are just working... as long as everything goes well in the flight (by that I mean food and seat)... that's why I always claim this: "Fly Cathay Pacific, the heart of Asia"... why? Log onto www.cathaypacific.com and see how everyone is working hard in this company not subsidised by the government and is proud to be a Hong Kong airline...
OK... more with reflection... what else? Probably settling back in Hong Kong after the LSE experience. Definitely it was an enjoyable and expansion to different academia and culture. Regrets persist but again, who cares. Job still on the search... pray for me on this for those of you who have a religion... someday this will come... now I try to devote a little bit more to church for I think this will help my spirituality go back to what it once was and at the same time, make me a person serving the church rather than relying on it through mass and all that jazz...
Travelling experiences were enjoyable as well... but my nerves aren't that good as always and the way to discover myself through these voyages seem hitting me somewhere off in terms of making my perception... the motto "enjoy life" seemingly is like turning into the equation of "enjoy = accept". But this is still under a justification process so let's put that aside....
Hong Kong, my home? I guess so. Again, I am Chinese! London? Nah... but will love to work there one day. Vancouver, Toronto or Canada? Kinda my home but more so a Disneyland Real Version to me.
Let's see what my visions for 2009 will be... let me think... stay tuned!

Complaints or compliments?
The ability to criticize between the East and the West differs hugely among societies. While one consider the necessity to criticize, the dedication to maintain an equilibrium in society conflicted each other when culture crashes occur. So the final question comes... where are we based? The notion claiming that the originality of one determining its position to complain in a way dedicated to its originality should be partially rejected. Take myself as an example. Well, I am from Hong Kong but I am not what people call 'a 100% made in Hong Kong' - I don't like yelling at people, at least, but I agree with the necessity to voice out loud and clear. Drawing backwards, the idea of 'a base' comes from the geographical barriers we used to have but assuming the rejection of Mansell's (2001) proposition of the nonexistence of a wired network, are we all connected? How much should Digital Divide divide us? Are we "all for one and one for all" (Lyrics from Billy Elliot)? How "global" are we at the end of the day? The department of Media and Communications from the LSE has always been focusing on how Digital Divide has divided the world (or at least some courses have stressed this). Should we move on from this and discuss the interaction between globalization and Digital Divide?
OK enough with academic writing... now comes an easier version. It seems as if we, Asians and Westerners, if such can draw the line between the world (which is impossible!) interprets the world differently. Where can an equilibrium exist with an emerging society? It is hard but it is time to think. We are in a world full of computer interactions but seemingly this brought down the meaning to communicate. My proposition is to start with the younger generation but the youngsters today are even more "bossy" than ever! Yes communication exist but in an odd way. Or am I too conservative at this point? Is "Criticism" based on the verb "to talk"? Any thoughts??
